What is Pilates?
The Pilates method of exercise was designed to strengthen, stretch, and balance the body.
It improves the way our body functions, looks, and feels by increasing core strength and balancing
the muscles around the joints.

Class Descriptions
Powerhouse Fundamentals
Perfect for the new Pilates Reformer student. Get comfortable with the reformer and learn a basic
level 1 reformer series.
Heart and Soul 1
Perfect for the beginning Pilates student. This class focuses on the basic system which Joseph Pilates
considered the heart and soul of the system. Both mat and reformer exercises are included in this
foundation building class.
Powerhouse Foundation
This class is designed for the experienced beginner. For students who are ready to graduate to the next
level and create a seamless flow of movements, this is an experienced level 1 reformer workout. A minimum
of 20 Powerhouse fundamentals cleasses recommended or prior instructor approval.
Foothills Athletic Club also offers reformer and mat classes. Please contact the club for specific

Bios
Yasmine Smith (Yazz): Yazz has worked in the fitness industry for over 19 years teaching
Group Exercise classes and personal training and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition
for the University of Minnesota.
She teaches all Group Exercise formats, Pilates, and Yoga. Her Pilates training is the classical
style and is dedicated to keeping the amazing work of Joseph Pilates alive with integrity. She
loves to work with all fitness levels and believes in promoting and living a balanced lifestyle.

Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM)

Sheila Jarvis: Sheila is a licensed physical therapist and specializes in working with
patients with orthopedic injuries and spinal dysfunctions. She has worked in the fitness
industry for the past 12 years.
She has a background in sports and martial arts and is classically trained in the traditional
Pilates Method. Her training has enhanced her abilities as a physical therapist as well as a
fitness instructor. She enjoys working with clients of all ages and fitness levels.
